Our Beginner’s Programme

At NWK, we have developed our own Beginner’s Programme to meet your needs. You will get a taste of what the workouts are like. We want you to turn up to six of our beginners classes to make the transition into our regular group classes easier for you, so you can have as much fun as possible.

What to expect from our beginner fitness classes:

Warm-Ups − Each session starts with a dynamic warm-up, which helps to prepare the body for the high-intensity exercises to come. The warm-up is a critical component of the CrossFit training programme.

Workout of the Day − Each day of the introduction programme will have its own Workout of the Day (WOD) and unique objective. The exercises involved will be split into different fitness domains, including but not limited to endurance, strength, flexibility and balance. The coach will demonstrate how to carry out each exercise and stipulate how many reps are required.

We break down our Beginners Programme and what will happen at each session

Introduction
Class 1

We’ll break down the most fundamental movements that we have at NWK: the squat series.

In this session, we’ll go over the following:

  • Air Squats
  • Back Squats
  • Front Squats
  • Overhead Squats

Each one comes with its own challenges. During this session, we explain how to move safely.

Once we have drilled home the technique, we hit up a little workout to get a sweat on – your first taste of NWK in action.

Introduction
Class 2

In your second class, we break down overhead movements. These include:

  • Strict Press
  • Push Press
  • Push Jerk

Coordination is key here. We’ll make sure your technique, mobility, and flexibility are on point. Like session one, we’ll run through a workout after the intro session.

Introduction
Class 3

This session covers the major pulling movements found in the CrossFit training programme. In this session, we go over the following:

  • Deadlift
  • Sumo-Deadlift High Pull
  • MedBall Clean

Great attention to detail will be paid to all these movements to stimulate sound movement patterns and overall efficiency.

The next step is the NWK Beginner Classes

Beginners
Class 1

Our first Beginners Class will be a heavy triple back squat. We then end with the Workout of the Day (WOD).

Class 2

Beginners Class 2 focuses on the deadlift and building to a 2RM. We go over safety and lifting correctly and finish with our Workout of the Day (WOD).

Beginners
Class 3

Beginners Class 3 is dedicated to weightlifting and nutrition. The session will consist of technical work, so we are really prepared for lifting some weight in this class. We’ll also run you through the “Clean & Jerk” and the “Snatch” process. 45 minutes of work, 15 minutes on nutrition basics.

Following the two weeks of the Beginners Programme, you can book onto the group classes and get stuck in.

If you prefer one-to-one sessions focused on your fitness goals and that go at your own pace, we can discuss personal coaching.
